Fill Up Your Cup with Dairy this Month at Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Events

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text visibility=”all”]June 11, 2019, Reston, Va. – Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative is celebrating June Dairy Month with some exciting opportunities for consumers to meet our members face to face, learn about their farms and sample great dairy products.

USDA Farmer’s Market, Friday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the corner of Independence Avenue and 12th St, S.W., Washington, DC 20250. Maryland & Virginia member Ken Smith from Remington, Virginia will be handing out delicious farm-fresh ice cream and Maola Milk as part of Undeniably Dairy’s Real Love Convoy. The Convoy is traveling around the country to promote dairy and healthy foods to families. The USDA Farmers Market on the National Mall features small food businesses, farmers and ranchers from the region, showcasing fresh, locally made food.

27th Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle, Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd and 7th Streets, NW, in Washington, DC. Historic Pennsylvania Avenue with the Capitol looming ahead becomes the backdrop for an extravaganza of food, music and personalities, to celebrate the “Official Start of Summer.” Maola Local Dairies will be handing out samples of its delicious Extra Rich Chocolate Milk and other Maola goodies as part of the Giant Local Flavors section of the festival. https://bbqindc.com/ 

University of Maryland’s Second Annual Breakfast on the Farm, Saturday, June 22, 2019, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Come meet the Derr Family at their Valley-Ho Farm in Middletown, Maryland. This program was designed to help educate the public on how food gets from the farm to the table. Attendees will learn about topics such as proper animal care, crop production, milk production and operation of farm equipment. Visitors will also be able to participate in various hands-on activities, watch a milking demonstration, view tractors and farming equipment, and eat ice cream. Breakfast on the Farm is a fun way to get kids interested in their food and establish the importance of farms in modern agriculture.
