No Injuries in Explosion at Maryland & Virginia’s Strasburg Plant

Reston, Virginia – Early this morning there was an explosion at Valley Milk Products, in Strasburg, Virginia.  The plant is owned by Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association (MDVA). At this time, there are no reported injuries.  There were no employees working in the facility at the time of the explosion.

“We are thankful for the swift action of local emergency responders and city building officials to ensure our employees are kept safe and minimize impact to the Strasburg community,” said Jay Bryant, CEO of MDVA. “While we are still assessing the impact of the explosion, we expect no disruptions to our milk supply.”

The Strasburg plant was purchased by MDVA in 1999 and supports 18 local jobs. The plant produces various condensed milks, butter and cream.
