May 5, 2020, Reston, Virginia – Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative in partnership with the Washington County Farm Bureau delivered 2,160 gallons of fresh milk to those in need at an event today in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Local dairy farmers and Farm Bureau volunteers handed out gallons of Maola milk at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown, Maryland. This giveaway coincides with Giving Tuesday. Approximately 1,000 gallons of milk were distributed at the event, and the remaining gallons were taken to local food pantries.
“I’m happy to help ensure that people in need can receive a nutritious product,” said dairy farmer and Maryland & Virginia President Matt Hoff. “This pandemic has been difficult for everyone and now is an excellent time for all of us to come together to help those in need.”
“Maryland & Virginia members have come together to work for the greater good of their communities by providing nutritious Maola milk to those in need during this time of crisis,” said Lindsay Reames, Director of Sustainability and External Relations. “We are proud of the work that our members do every day to care for their farms, families and communities.”
Giving Tuesday was established in 2012 as a day to inspire people all around the world to do good. Over the years it has become a global movement that spurs generosity and collaboration. And dairy farmers and farm organizations like Farm Bureau are doing their part to assist with food insecurity.
