Two Pennsylvania YC couples, Rich and Shelby Holsopple of Friedens (on left in photo), and Brian and Rachel Detwiler from Altoona (on right), ventured to Capitol Hillin early June to advocate for dairy. Joined by 60 other YCs from around the country, the Holsopples and Detwilers met with their representatives as part of the National Milk Producers Federation June Policy Forum.
YCs talked with Hill staff about trade, immigration, child nutrition and the Dairy Pride Act. “Getting to talk with the legislative staff was an eye-opening experience. Even though we may be discussing some of the same issues year after year, we need to continue to send our message to people on Capitol Hill,” Rich Holsopple said. The Holsopples and Detwilers will represent Maryland & Virginia at NMPF’s annual meeting in November 2019.
